Which finishes are available for stainless steel sinks?

The sink’s finish is largely a matter of preference. The most common choices are:

Mirror finish: Extra shiny without a visible grain, which looks lovely but is the most prone to noticeable scratches and water spots

Brushed and matte finishes: Duller, camouflages scratches

Satin finish: Most popular option, lustrous but not too shiny

Textured finish: Hides damage, but may be difficult to clean

Types of Stainless Steel Kitchen Sink

Drop-In Sinks

A drop-in sink is one of the most popular sink types. Also called a top mount sink, it literally drops into a pre-cut hole in the countertop. The edge of the sink rests on the counter for stability. Fairly easy to install, a drop-in sink works with almost every style of countertop and can be replaced without disturbing the countertop or relocating plumbing.

Undermount Sinks

Undermount sinks are fitted beneath the counter, making them perfect for use with granite and other solid surfaces. The end result of this design is a continuous flow from your counter to your sink without any lip or extrusions that can capture dirt or food particles in the process.

Wall-Mounted Sinks

Wall-mounted sinks save floor space since they do not require a cabinet or base for support. Normally, installation requires a strengthened wall to support the weight of the sink.  They are available in a variety of materials, including porcelain, stainless steel, and cast iron.  They are used in businesses, but because they can be installed at wheelchair height, they are a good choice for improving accessibility in homes as well.
